I'm Dan, a UK-trained Clinical Psychologist licensed by the Dubai Health Authority and registered with the Health and Care Professions Council in the UK, with nearly 20 years' experience across education, autism research and clinical psychology. I hold separate doctorates in autism research and Clinical Psychology, completed at the University of Edinburgh.
I work with children, adolescents and adults across anxiety, low mood, emotional regulation, self-esteem, identity, relationships and adjustment to difficult life experiences, with particular expertise in autism and ADHD — including people exploring their neurodivergence, recently identified or diagnosed, or seeking a better understanding of themselves later in life.
My approach is compassionate, collaborative and person-centred: I understand thoughts, emotions and behaviours in the context of each person's experiences, relationships, strengths and environment, rather than as problems to be corrected. This work is also neuro-affirmative — recognising neurological differences as natural human variation, and adapting therapy to the individual rather than expecting the individual to fit a standard model. It shapes how I work with neurodivergent clients while remaining fully inclusive of neurotypical people.
Before training as a psychologist, I worked as a qualified teacher in mainstream and specialist schools in the UK — a background that continues to shape how I understand family life, education, relationships and wider systems, and the part they play in mental health, behaviour and identity.
Alongside individual therapy, I provide consultation and training for parents, schools and professionals, and I develop and facilitate structured programmes for connection, shared understanding and strengths-based work.
