Welcome to Ontario Psychotherapy

I’m Dan, a UK-trained Clinical Psychologist licensed by the Dubai Health Authority, with over 20 years’ experience across education, autism research, and clinical psychology. I completed a PhD in autism, followed by a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Edinburgh. Before qualifying as a psychologist, I worked as a teacher in both mainstream and specialist schools, supporting children with additional and complex needs.

These experiences continue to shape how I understand psychological wellbeing. They have given me a systems-informed perspective that considers the interaction between individuals, relationships, families, schools, and wider environments, rather than viewing difficulties in isolation.

My clinical work is neuro-affirmative, formulation-led, and evidence-based. I work extensively with autistic and ADHD children, young people, and their families, while also providing psychological therapy to children, adolescents, and adults across a broad range of mental health presentations and neurotypes. My approach recognises thoughts, emotions, and behaviours as understandable responses to a person’s experiences, relationships, and circumstances.

Alongside direct clinical work, I provide consultation, training, and invited talks across clinical, educational, parent, and academic settings, contributing to wider understanding of neurodivergence, mental health, relational dynamics, and inclusive practice. I also develop and facilitate parent and group-based programmes, including neuroaffirmative support for families of autistic children and young people.

My aim is to create a collaborative therapeutic space where people feel understood, respected, and supported to make meaningful changes in their lives.
